Quest Science Fair

Written by Ujjawal Prasad

The Quest Science Fair event (on 9/24) was a blast for the whole team!

We got our robot (R2D2) out of storage and were finally able to take it out for a much-needed spin, since the last time we used it was during competition all the way back in April!

At the event, we hosted live robot demonstrations to engage our audience and to pique their curiosity in robotics. We engaged kids by having them roll balls towards the robot and try to catch the ball when the robot (lightly) shot back at them. Along with that, we advertised FIRST programs - such as FIRST Lego League - that they could participate in if they wanted to learn more about robotics.

The event also allowed new recruits to gain valuable experience with working on the robot, as they worked on assembling and disassembling the climber's arms as well as recognizing common problems (such as battery terminals being loose) that helped them familiarize with the robot by testing their capabilities in fixing certain parts.

An added benefit of this event was connecting with other FRC teams in our area, such as team 6619 and team 6059, the latter of whom we were in an alliance with in our most recent off-season event.

Overall, the Quest Science Fair was a very valuable experience and we enjoyed spreading the values of FIRST to others in our community.
