Our Mission

Team Skywalkers strives to develop engineering skills and further innovation for the next generation of STEM leaders. We are committed to creating a teaching experience for our members and bettering the community we live in. Through our community outreach and our stress on building and design, our members can experience all the different facets of STEM.

 Our History

Born late in the year 2019 to a group of passionate hungry-for-more high school freshmen, team Skywalkers aims to explore the boundaries of robotics and discover what is possible with robotics. In our rookie season of 2020, we had our sights set on gaining rookie all-star status, but earning funds proved to be difficult with our late start in the preseason. Even though we persevered, the season was unfortunately cut short due to the novel COVID-19 and its resulting lockdown, leaving us yet to compete in a tournament. With this season of 2021, we decided that a top-down restructuring of our team was necessary. With our continued hard work, we became the only rookie in the San Francisco Bay Area who won the Industrial Design Award internationally. In the 2022, our first year participating in in-person competitions, we became finalists at the Sacramento Regionals. Later in the season, we attended the Silicon Valley Regional, one of the most competitive competitions, and won second place.

 How We Operate

In the 2022 FRC preseason, we established a strong leadership and organizational structure that effectively pushes our ideals of teamwork, inclusion, and fun while ensuring our team is productive. At the top of the chain, there lies the emperor, Darth Krish. Under the emperor, there fall many leadership roles. The first of which are the two operation captains, who reinforce the team by helping team leads with their duties. The other leadership roles delve into specializations, with each involving themselves in the Mechanical, Software, Design, Manufacturing, Business, Marketing and Outreach sides of FRC. We have deemed this structure to be the most efficient, leading team Skywalkers along a path of productivity and awesomeness.

 Our Robots

The FRC3PO is a 27" by 32" autonomous robot, with a drive powered by 4x falcons. It utilizes a camera, Raspberry Pi, Pigeon IMU, and an ultrasonic sensor. The robot can autonomously capture 3 balls, and has a flip-out intake and powercell storage with low goal shooter.

R2D2 is also an autonomous robot featuring a traversal rung climber and an auto-aim shooter. It can intake up to 2 cargo balls and shoot with 80-90% accuracy using a retractable hood. Our robot also contains an automatic cargo loading sensor (with color and proximity sensors) in the indexer.
